  • First put dry ingredients into mixing bowl. Then add shortening and half of the milk. Mix until blended but not too much. Then add remaining milk, egg, and the flavoring. Mix until just smooth. It will come together nicely. Pour into greased and floured pan (I like to use Professional Pan Coating recipe number 78579. Nothing sticks when you use that to coat your pans!) Bake in 350 degree oven.

I love cooking and baking for others. I just don't love the mess. So I like to find dishes that only require just a few steps to make them. I live in Texas. My favorite cookbook is called Parent's Magazine Cookbook. It's been out of print for years. My mother received it with a magazine subscription, and it has two of our favorite recipes. One is for banana bread, the other is for a versatile pie filling that we use for a banana pie. We mainly make this pie for Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, etc. <img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/permanent%20collection/adoptedspring08.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket">
