Dinette Cake

"this is a Dinette Cake from the 1969 Betty Crocker Cook Book. I like to substitute the all purpose flour with whole wheat flour."

ingredients

• 1 1⁄4 cups all-purpose flour (1 1/4 cups is the amount I use for the whole wheat flour)
• 1 cup sugar
• 1 1⁄2 teaspoons baking powder
• 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
• 1⁄3 cup shortening (I have sub'ed apple sauce here)
• 3⁄4 cup milk
• 1 egg
• 1 teaspoon vanilla

directions

1. heat oven to 350 degrees. grease and flour 8x8 or 9x9 pan. Mix all ingredients and pour into pan. bake 35-40 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
