Crispy French Toast

  • Place corn flake crumbs in a shallow dish and set aside.
  • Combine milk, eggs, sugar and cinnamon in a medium size bowl and dip bread into mixture coating both sides well the dip into corn flake crumbs.
  • Grill or fry in a pan coated with cooking spray, cook bread on medium heat until both sides are golden brown, turning once. Serve hot with maple syrup.

  1. Tasty breakfast treat! I made just as directed and my toast came out crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Next time I may put some of the sugar/cinnamon in the cornflake crumbs as well as the egg mixture. Great twist on the traditional french toast - thanks for sharing the recipe!

  4. Was looking for a nice treat to send Dennis off to work this morning. And this was it! I didn't have cornflakes, although I did have"Frosted Flakes"~ since they were frosted I used less sugar. Took a rolling pin and "crunched" them up a bit. Dipped bread into the egg mixture and then coated them well with the cereal mixture. Added a bit of "Earth Balance" margarine, and then added some warm maple syrup on top. Yummy Julie! Made for *ZWT4* June 2008.
     
  5. Very nice addition to breakfast! Did use honey bunches of oats for this recipe & cut the sugar by half, the latter mostly because I served them with a homemade strawberry syrup, which was sweet enough! Did half with regular bread & the other half with a multigrain bread, but although I liked both, I would use the multigrain next time! Thanks for the keeper! [Made & reviewed while on tour in Canada with Zaar World Tour 4]
