  • Separate dried beef slices.
  • Saute slices in shortening until edges begin to curl.
  • Set aside.
  • Heat milk until just below boiling. (DO NOT ALLOW TO BOIL!).
  • Combine butter with flour and pepper and add to milk.
  • Cook 5 minutes until thickened.
  • Add beef to sauce and blend well.
  • Serve over noodles or toast.
