Chocolate Rice Krispies

This recipe was given to me by a friend and I still have not made it.

  1. In heavy 2-quart saucepan, melt chocolate and shortening over low heat, stirring constantly.
  2. Remove from heat.
  3. Stir in Rice Krispies.
  4. Spread warm mixture in 9x9x2" pan coated with cooking spray.
  5. Chill until firm.
  6. To serve, cut into 2x1" bars.
  7. Makes approximately 32.

This tastes just like a Nestle Crunch candy bar. I only had semi sweet chocolate so I used that. When I melted it it did not melt to a good consistency and I added 2 TBSP more margarine (for a total of 4 TBSP). I am assuming it was really thick because I used semi sweet chocolate instead of milk chocolate. I also used 2 1/2 cups crispies and it filled a 9x9 pan. I would say it made about 16 servings, not the 32 it lists. This is good if you like crispy chocolate. The semi sweet chocolate was very good in this ( I like dark chocolate). Not too sweet. This would also be good with a little mint extract added. I sent the batch to kindergarten and the kids loved it. They at it all. Thanks!!
