- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 (2 lb) package powdered sugar
- 1⁄3 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- food coloring (optional)
- BEAT butter at medium speed with an electric mixer until fluffy; gradually add powdered sugar, beating until light and fluffy.
- Add milk, beating until spreading consistency. Stir in vanilla.
Great recipe, simple and quick and oh so delicious.

I used this when I made Mom's Chocolate Cupcakes and it was wonderful. I added the vanilla and milk in at the same time, then turned up my KitchenAid to a higher speed and whipped it really well for a few minutes. This was the best, fluffiest frosting I've ever had or made, and since it doesn't use shortening, I'm even more pleased to have this recipe! Thanks, Alia!
