Bushnell Brown Bread

- 8 cups white flour
- 8 cups whole wheat flour
- 1⁄4 cup lard
- 1⁄4 cup sugar
- 4 -5 tablespoons salt
- 1⁄2 cup molasses
- 2 -3 cups lukewarm water
- 2 (4 tablespoon) envelopes dry yeast
directions
- Proof the yeast in 1 cup of warm water for 10 minutes.
- Cut the lard into the dry ingregients.
- Make a well and add the yeast mixture and molasses.
- Add the water a little at a time until you have a pliable dough.
- Knead on a lightly floured board for several minutes.
- Allow to rise until double, placing in a greased covered bowl.
- Form into loaves and place in greased bread loaf pans.
- Allow to rise until doubled.
- Bake 300F for 1 hour.
