Questions & Replies

  1. I'm using olive oil, would that make a difference in the crust?

  2. My crust comes out very dark and hard. Is there anything I can do to get a softer crust? This is the third loaf I am making right now and I cut back a small amount on the time.

  3. Does anyone know if this recipe yields a 1 lb. loaf, a 1 1/2 lb loaf or a 2 lb loaf? I chose 2 lb because it was closest to the 3 hours and 10 minutes listed in instructions.

  1. Made for Feb., 2008 Aussie/New Zealand Swap. Very good and moist bread recipe. I made the dough in my bread machine, but cooked the bread in the oven. The lightly sweet taste of the bananas was a real plus in this bread. Thanks for a great recipe, mersaydees.

  2. This is top notch. I questioned mersayees about the amount of liquid and she confirmed that it is indeed correct and my end result was marvelous. I added 1 tsp of Recipe#266688 because I thought it would go in very nicely and it did indeed. This recipe works beautifully and rises well. I always bake my breads in the oven after the machine has done the work. I think that some folks might like some more sugar added but it was fine for me. Thanks mersaydees for a lovely bread. Made for Photo Tag.

  3. The house smelt divine while this was cooking, lovely tasting bread with great texture and not too sweet. I used skim milk powder in place of dry buttermilk but otherwise made as directed. Great just with butter and makes nice toast too!
