Bacon and Egg Casserole (King's Hawaiian)

  • Cube the bread and arrange in a grease 13x9-inch pan.
  • Sprinkle with cheese and bacon.
  • Whisk together eggs, milk, salt, pepper, mustard and Worcestershire.
  • Pour over bread.
  • Cover and chill overnight.
  • Let stand 30 minutes before baking at 350° for 35-40 minutes.
  • Serve with salsa or tomatoes.

  1. I hav been making this breakfast casserole for Christmas morning for the last 7-8 years. Instead of bacon, i use cooked crumbled breakfast sausage. We also put a little maple syrup on it when served.
     
  2. This is a tasty and versatile recipe. You can mix up the cheeses and proteins no problem. I like to add sauteed onions and peppers, too. The King's Hawaiin bread and ratio of eggs to liquid, along with the spices, are spot on. I do like to omit the salt and use chicken base from Better Than Bouillon in place of the salt.
     
  3. I found this recipe from Southern Living 7/03, and it's a keeper. I substituted a combination of hash browns and seasoned french fries for the Hawaiian bread because it's what I had on hand, and I loved it. This casserole was gone within a day. Thanks for posting!
