Savory Cheese Soup

"This recipe took grand prize in the April/May 1995 Taste of Home magazine. I just made this for the first time, and my children and husband devoured it! My kids didn't even complain about the vegetables! (they are ages 5 & 4) This one's a keeper! Hope you enjoy it!"

  1. MY husband is very picky about his cheese soup. Seeing the other reviews, i dusted onion salt as i saute'd the onions. and as I was stirring the milk mixture i dusted with garlic salt, and seasoning salt. The directions were a bit vague to me, so i did a bit of scrambling, but it all paid off very well in the end. there were no left overs in the smallest degree. Plus it looks so festive as you add the celery and carrots.

  2. I made this a few nights ago and I agree with the didyb, it is very bland. I used a whole sweet onion and it still did not have enough flavor for me. I ended up adding some Tony's Creole and extra salt and pepper but it still did not have the flavor I was looking for. I will not make this again.

  3. I really liked it. My husband said it was a bit bland. I'll just add more pepper next time. The kids wouldn't touch it (veggies, you know) but that just leaves more left overs for me!
