What a Surprise this was. It was delicious. I did puree half of the tomatoes to give it more of a picante' style texture. I made this for our Labor day weekend and it didn't last the first day! I used only one pepper and that was about the right heat for my family. Thank you Melissa, for this interesting recipe.

I was looking for a something similar to my favorite hole-in-the-wall Mexican grocery counter's burrito salsa and this was definitely the thing. My real rating is 4.5 stars and my only little, tiny ding is for the amount of liquid that develops probably from the cabbage as it sits in the acid from the lime and the salt. The taste is phenomenal and the cabbage provides this great crunchy texture.

I love this stuff! A Mexican restaurant we used to frequent served this, and right before we moved I asked for the recipe. Our regular waiter was so upset to see us go that he shared the recipe with me. If you take out the sugar in your recipe and substitute it with the juice of one orange, then add some freshly ground black pepper, you have their recipe. I love that you can make is spicier or not, depending on taste. If I make it for a party, I add diced avocado. Never have any leftovers, and everyone always asks for the recipe!
