Tandoori Chicken Burgers

- 1 lb ground chicken
- 1⁄2 cup dry breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons prepared tandoori paste
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon finely grated lemon zest
- 3⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1⁄2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 dash hot sauce (optional)
- whole grain hamburger bun
- sliced cucumbers and peaches or mango
- yogurt
directions
- Toss the chicken with the breadcrumbs, Tandoori paste, egg, lemon juice, lemon zest, salt & pepper and cumin (and hot sauce, if using). Shape the burgers into 6 patties and chill until ready to grill.
- Preheat the grill to medium. Grill the burgers for 10 to 12 minutes on each side, or until cooked all the way through, and rotating the burgers 90 degrees halfway through cooking on each side.
- Serve the burgers on buns and top with sliced cucumbers and peaches (or mango, and serve with the yogurt or creamy dressing.

I prepared small tandori burgers (1 pound chicken = 16 mini burgers).<br/>I didn't have ground chicken, so I chopped 1 pound of chicken breast.<br/><br/>I served this with, cucumber, nectarine peaches, yougurt and lime pickles<br/>Woderful, this made a great appetizer!<br/>I prepared the wholegrain buns myself and baked them while I was baking the burgers on two different baking sheets.<br/>Thanks a lot for this easy recipe.

I am an Israeli-Canadian who grew up in Montreal Quebec. I love to cook, especially for family and friends, and I love to experiment with recipes and try to do different variations of the same recipe. I did do part of cooking school, but found the place stressful and all the good recipes high in fat and calories, even the good ones. I don't have a fave cookbook, but I eat kosher. I have a dream and that is to own my own B&B one of these days. I also love creative writing, and maybe I like to try make up a recipe of my own and see if I'm good at doing that.
I have to add that I do have some favourite chefs from the Food Network. They are Giada De Laurentis from Everyday Italian; Micheal Smith from Chef at Home; Jamie Oliver and everything he does; Anna Olson from Sugar; and Chef Gordon Ramsey from Hells' Kitchen and Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares.
