Steamed Potatoes

"My DH has to have this whenever I make his German Hamburger Patties. It is a recipe that his Mother and Oma always made. It is on the bland side but he likes to eat it with some ketchup."

  1. I made this for lunch and served it with smoked sausage and it made for a wonderful meal. I already had my slicer attachment on my KitchenAid, so decided just to slice them, rather than dicing them. The only other changes I made was to use part butter and part crisco and to add some seasoning after cooking. I found them bland without any seasoning, but otherwise fully enjoyed the potatoes!!! Made for Gimme 5 Tag.

  2. After reading the reviews I tried somethig different, I really dont like to change other Zaar members recipes around but I tried 1tablespoon butter and 1 tablespoon shortening to see if this would work. # out of 4 of us thought this was great while 1 thought it was just okay. I thought that the flavor was pretty good and will try again. This was a great compliment to leftover turkey tonight. Made for 1-2-3 hit wonders.

  3. I needed more flavor. We love the crunchy/crispy version. It's the same thing without adding the water and probably coz it's so full of flavor I didn't care much about this. Maybe some garlic added just before it's ready might spice it up a little.

  4. A winner in this household! I made it for dinner tonight and I already have repeat requests from my kids. I added a couple of cloves of garlic minced at time of adding water and used 3/4 cup of water. I also used butter instead of shortening. Will make again real soon. Made for 1-2-3 tag.

  5. This is a nice side dish to just about any meat. The potatoes are very tender. I think next time I would use butter instead of shortening, or maybe butter flavored shortening. There was not much seasoning either so I woud also add some garlic powder, paprika, or oregano maybe. Overall, we liked this side dish, it just needs a little tweeking.

<p>? Hi! My name is Teresa.? My husband and I like to take RV trips but it seems lately we just us it for vintage motorcross races. I enjoy hiking, snowshoeing, have done some rock climbing but age is creeping up on my poor old bones. Anything to do with the outdoors I enjoy, so why do I live in rainy Washington state? We have 2 wonderful children, both grown. My son lives in LA and my daughter and her husband recently moved back in the area with their little boy...our grandson... who just turned?5 years old. We have a granddaughter who lives close by...she just turned 23 this year. She's a sweetheart.? Life is good when you have a son and a?daughter and they?gift?you with a granddaughter and grandson. :)??</p>
