ingredients
- 1 -2 lb ground beef or 1 -2 lb Italian sausage
- 1⁄2 lb fresh mushrooms
- 2 (29 ounce) cans tomato sauce
- 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
- 6 garlic cloves
- 2 tablespoons basil
- 1 tablespoon oregano
- 1 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
directions
- Brown meat and drain.
- combine everything in slow cooker.
- cook for 6-10 hrs on low.

I really don't care for cooked mushrooms, but since my other half does, I did include them here, dicing them pretty fine so that when cooked, I wouldn't be able to tell where they were! Worked out just fine, & I followed your recipe right on down for an absolutely delicious sauce! Well worth making again! [Made & reviewed for one of my adoptees in this Spring's round of Pick A Chef]

<p>I got married in July 08 and I am learning how to cook regular meals for our family. I want to eat healthy, but mu husband's three food groups are meat, gravy, potatoes(preferably fried). YIKES!! His dad is the same, maybe worse. His mom figured out how to cook meals with the option of leaving out the unhealthy parts for her, not wasting food her husband won't eat, while saving the time of not cooking two meals. That is my goal. Well, my dream is that my husband will start eating healthy, but for now I need to improvise! Plus, we are working hard building a business, so I need recipes that are quick and easy.</p>
