This is a great cake...the smell is fabulous and the taste is very unique. When I was a little girl there was a restaurant we used to go to that served Scotch Cake. I loved it and when we moved from my home town I was never able to find it again. Though not exact, this cake is very similar. It's wonderful with freshly whipped cream on the side and a steaming cup of coffee. Thank you for the recipe!

Thank you for sharing this recipe. I misplaced my recipe card and was so thankful to find this because I could remember most of the ingredients and proportions, but wasn’t confident enough to make It from memory. I see this cake often referred to as “Texas Sheet Cake” but my grandmother called it Scotch chocolate cake just like you do. She also made hers in the 13 x 9 pan like you instead of using a shallow sheet pan. Everyone in my family requested this cake for their birthdays, and my mom used to say my grandma‘s cake was a “killer” because it had three sticks of butter!
