Sausage Breakfast Casserole

Not sure where I found this recipe, but it's a Sunday morning favorite at our house.

ingredients
- 1 1⁄2 lbs pork sausage
- 1 (8 ounce) package crescent rolls
- 4 eggs, beaten
- 3⁄4 cup milk
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup cheddar cheese
- salt & pepper
directions
- Lightly grease a 9x13 inch pan.
- Press cresent rolls in bottom of pan.
- Bake at 425 degrees for 8 minutes.
- Brown sausage on med heat, drain & crumble.
- Combine sausage, eggs, milk, cheese and salt & pepper.
- Pour over cresent rolls.
- Bake at 425 degrees for 15-20 minutes.

This was very good and something different than the same breakfast. The only thing is that the bottom layer of crescent rolls were a bit too dark, almost burned. I think next time I will reduce the time of baking the crescent rolls to about 5 min. Other than that, its a keeper! Thanks for sharing!Reply

In my opinion, there is way too little topping for the crust. I put in 7 large/extra large eggs, and it could have used more. This is a very easy recipe, and it looks great (everyone 'ooos' and "ahhs" about it) but it is so-so. Next time I might try about 10 eggs, cream instead of milk, a tablespoon of flour to thicken it a little, and maybe some flavorings, like fennel seed.Reply
