- 14 1⁄2 ounces canned tomatoes
- 8 ounces canned tomato sauce
- 1 cup chicken or 1 cup vegetable stock
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
- 1⁄4 cup parmesan cheese
- 1 pinch italian seasoning
- 2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons ghee
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or 1 tablespoon avocado oil
- red pepper flakes, heavy cream (optional)
directions
- Add butter and oil to a pan.
- Add in minced onion and saute until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add minced garlic and cook one minute or until fragrant.
- Add canned tomatoes, tomato sauce, stock, Parmesan cheese and any desired seasonings.
- Bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer for 20 minutes.
- Blend with immersion or standard blender until desired consistency has been reached.
- Finish with heavy cream, if desired.
