Fruit Crisp in Foil Packets

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • In cup, stir in orange juice, 1 teaspoon of the brown sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon with apple.
  • Put apples into medium bowl, dump above mixture in, and mix.
  • Into medium bowl mix together remaining brown sugar (1 tablespoon plus 2 teaspoons), remaining cinnamon (2 teaspoons), quick cooking oats, flour, walnuts, flax seeds, nutmeg (if you like it), and the grated butter.
  • Cut two foil pieces into 12 inch squares.
  • Divide the apple mixture between the two.
  • Divide and sprinkle the oatmeal mixture onto the apple.
  • Seal foil.
  • Bake sealed for 14 minutes, and UNSEALED for 10 minutes.
  • Mix together yogurt and maple syrup and use as a topping, if you want. Ice cream is what we topped ours with.

  1. I followed this recipe exactly, which is out of character for me, and was very disappointed in the end result. It was not bursting with flavor and not a single part of it was crispy. The recipe also failed to state what you were supposed to do with the yogurt/maple syrup mixture. We ended up pouring it over the top after baking in an attempt to add moisture and flavor.
