EASY Beef Casserole

"This is a casserole that my Mom used to make for me and my brothers."

• Ingredients: 7

ingredients

• 1 lb stew meat
• 3 tablespoons soy sauce
• 1⁄2 teaspoon pepper
• 1 large onion, diced
• 1⁄2 lb mushroom
• 1 can water chestnut (optional)
• 3 tablespoons butter

directions

1. Saute onion in butter.
2. Add stew meat and brown slightly.
3. Put in 9x13-inch baking dish and add soy sauce, mushrooms, chestnuts, and pepper.
4. Cover and bake at 300 for 1 1/2 hours.
5. Serve over rice.

This was almost too easy and tasted fantastic. After the beef was done, I used the liquid to make gravy for mashed potatoes. Yummy!! The whole family enjoyed this...it's a definite keeper.

We didn't really care for this, which is odd, because we love beef with soy sauce normally. Maybe I did something wrong, or maybe the meat was just funky or something.

Sorry, we were a little dissapointed w/this recipe. I fixed it exactly like printed, but the taste was a little blah for us. The meat was very tender though. Maybe could add some celery and other vegetables. It was very simple to fix.
