ingredients

  • 1 (3 lb) beef roast, of choice
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 (2/3 ounce) envelope Italian salad dressing mix
  • 1 (1 ounce) envelope ranch dressing mix
  • 1 (7/8 ounce) envelope brown gravy mix

directions

  • - Mix dry mixes thoroughly into water.
  • - Place beef in Crock Pot.
  • - Cover with gravy and place on lid.
  • - Cook on LOW for 6-8 hours until meat is easily pierced by fork.
  • - OPTIONAL: Add vegetables after first 3 hours of cooking to avoid them becoming too soft.
  • ENJOY!
  • NOTE: Because recipes need exacting amounts it was hard to list the envelope quantities. For clarity, my Italian Dressing envelope was 0.7 (19g) ounce size, My Ranch was 1 ounce (28g) size and my Beef Gravy mix was 0.87 (24g) size. These sizes worked perfectly for flavor and were not over-salty.

  1. This really did come out amazing. Chose to try this recipe for it's easiness for one of this past Holiday's parties and it was such a hit. Guest couldn't get enough. No worrying about pressure cooker guesswork and no hot oven for 3 or more hours. Didn't even have to brown the beef. Just set and forget. I do not know why the three packets work, but the gravy as it mixes with the released juices from the beef and added vegetables was delicious. I used fingerling potatoes, pearl onions and carrots and some parsnips during last hour. Came out perfect. Everybody wanted recipe. Thank's for sharing.

Have no qualms about dining out, but really love getting into the zone and making delicious home-cooked food. I wish more people in my generation cooked. I find it alarming how many don't anymore.
