Questions & Replies

  1. It doesn’t show butter in the ingredients however it says to sauté in it. Does anyone know how much butter to use?

  1. Thats it for the boxed stuff and for pushing stuffing up the bird's you know what!! This was so simple and good. I used a lot of fresh sage (cuz I have a ton of it in my yard and I like it) and chicken stock instead of veggi stock. Made lots for freezing and using in other creative ways later. Thanks again Dancer^

  2. This was perfect for our huge Thanksgiving pot luck dinner. I was busy all day preparing other things for the dinner so it was perfect to pile all the stuffing in the crock pot in the morning and not think about it until meal time. The outside was crunchy and the middle mushy so it pleased everyone. The crock pot was scraped to the bottom!

  3. We smoked a turkey and deepfried a turkey, the oven was full of casseroles so cooking in the crockpot was a bonus. Tasty.

  4. This recipe is pretty close to the one I have been making for years. The secret is to lightly set a tea towel on top of the dressing in the crock pot to catch the condensation that runs down off the lid. No soggy dressing!!

Tweaks

  1. I have always bypassed crockpot Stuffing recipes. I just couldn't imagine how stuffing made in a crockpot could be any good at all. However my family got together for Christmas last night. I was running short of time for usage of my oven, so I tried this recipe. I used 6 cups crumbled corn bread, and 6 cups crumbled biscuits instesd of the stale bread crumbs. I also substituted chicken broth for the vegetable broth. This was as good as any cornbread stuffing I have ever made, and left my oven open for other items. Will definitely be adding this to our holiday traditions! Thanks for sharing.

  2. Delicious! I made this for a Thanksgiving potluck at work and it was wonderful even though I skipped the thyme and poultry seasoning (out of) and upped the amount of sage a bit. I also used fresh mushrooms instead of the canned and added a bit of garlic. No leftovers to bring home. Thanks for sharing!
