Cheesy Tomato Bread

"Years ago when my sister was in college, she worked at an Italian Restaurant. This was the most requested appetizer there. When she quit, she asked for the recipe. We all still look forward to this when we get together."

  1. I grew up eating this using tomatoes fresh from the garden. My mom called it tomato bread. We didn't use pizza sauce and only buttered the top of the bread. Also sprinkled a touch of paprika on top. One of my all time favorite childhood meals, and now my kids love it too!

  2. These were great - and so simple! I made it on toasted oatmeal bread because that is what I had. I will definitely make again on the baguette because it's tomato season and the flavors are fantastic! Thanks OS!

  3. Nice quick and very inexpensive. Made for some nice snacks during the afternoon. Made for Alphabet Tag.

  4. Cheap, tasty, easy. I often use only the tomato s lices, no sauce. A classic.

  5. I loved it!

Hi Everyone! I am so happy that I found this site because I love trying new recipes, and this is the best place for doing just that. I was born and raised a city girl, but now reside in the country. I love the slower pace of life. I have been married for over 30 years to my wonderful husband and friend. We enjoy spending as much time as possible with our families and friends. Growing up with loving parents and a large family (10 including me), we were one big happy family. Our families are very close today, and we get together monthly to celebrate everyone's birthday. I volunteer at a local hospital, and enjoy boating, golfing, and reading. I love to cook, but my passion is baking. I found recipezaar a few months ago, and found so many delicious recipes. We get together with our families often, and since all of us like to cook, we share new recipes along with the tried and true. Good Food and Great Family and Friends....what could be a better combination.
