Caramelized Onion Burgers

- 4 medium onions, sliced
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1⁄4 cup water
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- 3⁄4 teaspoon salt, divided
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1⁄4 cup chopped parsley
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1⁄4 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
- 4 hamburger buns, toasted
- 4 slices tomatoes
- lettuce leaf
directions
- Cook onions and sugar in hot oil over low heat 20 to 25 minutes until onion is caramelized, stirring often. Stir in the 1/4 cup water, vinegar, and 1/4 teaspoon of the salt. Set aside and keep warm.
- Combine beef, parsley, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and pepper. Shape into 4 patties.
- Grill over medium-hot heat until beef is no longer pink.
- Serve on buns with caramelized onions, tomato slices and lettuce.

Ok I believe this recipe is cursed or something. Because funny thing is, like Bergy and KC_Cooker when we got ready to grill all looked well in the sky, then we got out there and it started to rain a little but not hard, so we were able to grill them! They tasted out of this world excellent! They will go into my favorite folder. I do think you should change the name of the recipe to, Grill them before it rains burgers. Thanks so much for posting a wonderful recipe Lvs2Cook....

If I could give this recipe more than 5 stars, I would! They were fantastic!!! They must have some kind of rain dance effect though, because right when my husband was getting ready to put them on the grill, our clear skies turned gray and we had a torrential downpour :) Just like Bergy, I had to bring them in and pan fry them. The onions were so sweet and delicious ont he burger and all the flavors combined were perfect. I can't wait to try this again on the grill! Delicious!
