Baked Fruit Compote

  • Heat oven to 350. Have ready a 2 - 2 1/2 quart shallow baking dish.
  • Dissolve sugar in wine.
  • Put dried and canned fruits in baking dish, add wine mixture and stir to mix. Cover with foil.
  • Bake 1 hour, or until most of the liquor is absorbed. Uncover, cool and transfer to serving dish; cover and regrigerate overnight.

  1. I found this recipe in the 11/2005 issue of "Womans Day" and just happened to run across it posted here. It's very easy to prepare & always a hit with family & friends. I serve mine with the main course, just plain from a pretty dish & it always goes fast! (can be made up to 1 week ahead.Refrigerate covered)

Hi, I live in Hot Springs, AR, but originally hail from the great windy city, Chicago. I have a house full of animals, all rescues, 8 parrots, 4 dogs and a cat. I am passionate about animals, especially ones that have been abused and neglected. If I had the money, I would buy a farm and fill it with animals that needed homes. I've been this way since I was a child and it seems I have passed my passion on to my daughter. How my poor husband puts up with us I don't know, buy he's a great guy and pitches right in with all the animals. He's a chef at a local resort (and an assistant zoo keeper when he gets home...lol).
