This turned out so good and it was crazy easy to put together. Fix, forget and enjoy. Real comfort food for us. I added a can of chicken broth, 1 T of bullion and only used3T of butter. Next time I'll add the peas closer to the end of cooking so they stay nice and bright. Thanks for sharing the recipe, I'll be making this again.

This soup was awesome!!!! I used a leftover spiral cut ham, a whole chopped onion, 1 chopped garlic clove, and used chicken broth in place of water and an extra cup of it, then just a cup of half and half (since it was in my fridge and needed to be used up). I also threw in a tablespoon of caraway seeds (ham on rye theme) and man oh man. the garlic and caraway added a really nice subtle flavor to this soup. so good! we will be making this again! I will probably make some without the dairy to freeze, and then just add the dairy when we reheat it

Of course, I tweaked. Used a real onion and left over pork chops instead of ham. Also, to make it gluten-free, I used 6 tbsp of rice flour and reduced the butter to about 4 tbsp (the pork chops were a little on the fatty side). Gotta say, very delicious. I think paprika would work well with this, too. YUM!
