Yummy Russian Potato Pies!

Dough
- 236.59 ml warm water
- 59.14 ml margarine
- 4.92 ml salt
- 59.14 ml powdered milk
- 14.79 ml yeast
- 473.18 ml white flour
- 59.14 ml whole wheat flour

Potato Filling
- 4 medium hot cooked potatoes
- 118.29 ml sour cream
- 7.39 ml salt
- 4.92 ml onion powder

Topping
- 1 medium onion, chopped in big pieces
- 22.18 ml oil
- margarine, to brush over top
- sour cream, to your liking
directions
- Mix together the warm water, margarine, salt and milk powder. Slowly stir the flour into the liquid ingredients until it makes a soft dough. Spray a medium-sized bowl with vegetable oil spray and place the dough in the bowl. Spray the top of the dough with vegetable oil spray. Cover and let rise in a warm place until double in size.
- Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces. Let the dough rest for 5 - 10 minutes. Prepare filling by mixing all ingredients and stirring well. Roll out each piece of dough and put a couple of spoonfuls of filling in the middle of the dough. Add a little sour cream and roll the dough up like little loaves of bread.
- Let the loaves rise until double in size. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 - 30 minutes. They should be golden brown. Place on a wire rack and brush a little margarine on top of each little loaf.
- In a small skillet heat 1 1/2 Tbsp oil and saute onion a few minutes. Serve onion on top of the potato pies with a dollop of sour cream.

Update: We've moved back to the states, and are experiencing the joys of living in Wenatchee, WA for the first time! I'm spending most of my time in the kitchen canning, freezing, and drying fruit now and loving it!
We are a couple, Jason and Mollie, that loves to cook together. We have two wonderful DD's, Enjoli (9) and Emily (7) that make life so much more fun! I, Mollie, studied Nutrition so I try to make most of our meals healthy while still tasting great! Our girls love helping us cook...and eat! We're vegetarian and love eating healthy without missing any flavor! We try to eat mostly vegan, so we have many vegan recipes posted. We are world traveling missionaries and students that have visited many countries and have lived in the States, South Korea, and are currently in the Philippines. So we always need to adjust our menu based on the food available. Zaar has been a tremendous help!
