  • Combine grated apples, sweetened condensed milk, egg yolks and lemon juice. Pour into a baking dish and pat down.
  • Whip the egg whites and sugar into a merangue with soft peaks. Spread merangue over the apple mixture.
  • Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes or until dessert is set and merangue is golden.
  • Chill and serve.

  1. This was a simple and yummy dessert, and even gluten-free! I like it better cold than warm.
     
  2. This recipe did not work for me. The baking dish I used was a 9" square since size was not specified. Perhaps that was the wrong size? The apple mixture became soupy within a short time after baking, and after serving four people, I threw away the rest.
     
  3. i gave this four stars, because i think the lemon gave it a bit much tartness with granny smith. however, this is dish still delicious! i sprinkled a bit of cinnamon on top before baking, and just had to taste when it was fresh out of the oven! YUM!
