You make these on your waffle maker and serve them with ice cream and chocolate sauce. YUM

Directions

  1. Mix dry ingredients.
  2. Beat egg yolks.
  3. Add milk blend into the flour mixture.
  4. Add butter and vanilla, beat well.
  5. Beat whites until stiff, fold into the cake.
  6. Pour about 1/4 Cup of the batter into a lightly oiled medium hot waffle iron.
  7. Bake 3-4 minutes.
  8. Serve with Ice cream and chocolate sauce.
  9. Makes 13 waffle cakes.

I made these as a special treat for my kids on a snow day. They loved them! I felt the chocolate flavor could be a little stronger though. I would suggest increasing the cocoa and decreasing the flour to get a more intense flavor. The batter was easy to work with and the waffle cakes were light and tender. Thanks for sharing!! The kids and husband gobbled this up. I have made something similar where you frost them with chocolate frosting...this was better I think.

This recipe made 5 belgian waffles. They were tough, and didn't have much flavor. They were a fun dessert to try, but will probably not make again.
