Terrific recipe especially in place of potato salad. It is a family favorite. I often do not use the shrimp .

  1. Cook vermicelli in boiling water, stirring constantly.
  2. Drain and blanch with cold water.
  3. Add onion, green pepper, parsley, celery seed, chives, oregano, shrimp or crabmeat, if you are adding it and Italian dressing.
  4. Moisten well with the mayonnaise, adding more if necessary.
  5. Add salt and pepper to taste.
