Vegan "chicken" Gravy

"Getting ready for the holidays with some delicious vegan dishes that even my meat loving friends and family will enjoy! :) From one of my favorite cookbooks, "The Best of Silver Hills, Delicious Vegetarian Cuisine.""

• Ingredients: 9
• Yields: 2.5 cups
• Serves: 5

ingredients

• 473.18 ml water
• 118.29 ml raw cashews
• 14.79 ml unbleached white flour
• 14.79 ml vegan chicken seasoning (I use McKays vegan Chicken Style Seasoning)
• 9.85 ml onion powder
• 1.23 ml celery salt
• 14.79 ml soy sauce or 14.79 ml Braggs liquid aminos
• 4.92 ml dill (optional)
• salt, to taste

directions

1. Place all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth and creamy.
2. Pour blended mixture into small saucepan. Stir constantly over medium heat until thickened.
3. Serve hot over our favorite entrees.

I did want to make this recipe; however, McKay's vegan Chicken Style Seasoning is not vegan. Upon reading the ingredients of this product, I was disappointed to see it does contain Palm Oil and/or derivatives thereof. Obviously, the manufacturer does not add this information.

A good gravy, very simple and quick to make. I make cashew based gravies all the time, I just found this one on the watery side, even after adding some extra flour. My daughter thought it was really good, and it went well with our potatoes....I just found for my tastes that it needed some extra flavour and less of the onion powder.

Boy, this was real simple and delicious. I probably would of given it 5 stars, but I did not put salt in it. Probably would of given it a bit more. It was still good though, Thank you.
