Sweet Apple Pie

- pastry for double-crust pie (9-inch)
- 3⁄4 cup sugar
- 1 1⁄2 cups flour
- 1⁄2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1⁄2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 dash salt
- 6 cups tart apples, peeled, cored, thinly sliced (about 6)
- 1 cup English toffee bits or 1 cup almond brickle chips
- 2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine
- whipping cream (optional)
directions
- Line a 9-inch pie plate with bottom pastry. Trim pastry even with edge of plate.
- In a large bowl, combine sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Add apples and toss to coat. Pour into crust and dot with butter.
- Roll out remaining pastry to fit top of pie; make decorative cutouts in the crust. Place pastry over filling. Trim, seal and flute edges. Top with cutouts. Brush top pastry with cream if desired. Cover edges loosely with foil.
- Bake at 425F for 30 minutes. Remove foil. Bake 15-20 minutes longer or until crust is golden brown and filling is bubbly.
- Cool on wire rack.

<br>I guess the dish that I am famous for is my Christmas ham - my family all comes home for Christmas, and if i don't have my ham they are dissapointed, and my grandson wants the pistachio squares!!! so I guess that is the dishes that I'm famous for.
