This pie is really good. Family said it was awesome. It is a recipe I will make again for sure. It is going into the cookbook that only gets the best recipes written in it.

Ingredients Nutrition

  • pastry for double-crust pie (9-inch)
  • 34 cup sugar
  • 1 12 cups flour
  • 12 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 12 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 dash salt
  • 6 cups tart apples, peeled, cored, thinly sliced (about 6)
  • 1 cup English toffee bits or 1 cup almond brickle chips
  • 2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine
  • whipping cream (optional)


  1. Line a 9-inch pie plate with bottom pastry. Trim pastry even with edge of plate.
  2. In a large bowl, combine sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Add apples and toss to coat. Pour into crust and dot with butter.
  3. Roll out remaining pastry to fit top of pie; make decorative cutouts in the crust. Place pastry over filling. Trim, seal and flute edges. Top with cutouts. Brush top pastry with cream if desired. Cover edges loosely with foil.
  4. Bake at 425F for 30 minutes. Remove foil. Bake 15-20 minutes longer or until crust is golden brown and filling is bubbly.
  5. Cool on wire rack.
