For Streusel Topping
- 1⁄4 cup butter, softened
- 1⁄4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1⁄4 cup flour, all purpose
- 1⁄2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1⁄4 cup walnuts, chopped

- 2 cups flour, all purpose
- 1⁄2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄2 cup butter, room temperature
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1⁄2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1⁄2 cup buttermilk
- 1 1⁄4 cups apples, chopped
- 1⁄2 cup walnuts, chopped

- Preheat oven to 350°. Butter a 9x5 inch loaf pan or line the pan with waxed or parchment paper.

Streusel Topping:
- Stir together brown sugar, cinnamon, and flour. Add butter and blend with a fork until the mixture resembles course crumbs. Stir in nuts. Set aside.

Bread:
- Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl and set aside.
- Cream butter; gradually add sugar and beat until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs.
- Add dry ingredients, alternating with buttermilk and mix just until smooth.
- Fold in apples and nuts.
- Pour batter into prepared loaf pan. Top with streusel mixture.
- Bake 50 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
