Spicy Homemade Hamburger Helper

"I developed this recipe because I wanted something that had a spicier flavour than instant products readily available in your local grocery store but I wanted the ease with which to make it too. I think this recipe is easy to follow and versatile too. You can add any vegetable that you may have in the house and adjust the spices to suit yourself. You can change the type of pasta/sauce used too. Everytime you make it, it can be different from the last time! You can even make it using ground chicken, turkey, or even seafood (or with no meat at all!) Enjoy!"

 1. Really easy. I used taco seasoning in addition to the paprika and it turned out really good. The instructions lack some essential instructions that may not be obvious to a newbie cook. For example, that you need to drain the fat from the ground beef. Also, it would have been helpful if it indicated that you should start the vegetables in before the ground beef.

Good overall

 2. This was okay for us. Very quick to put together which is great for a weekday meal. I used my own marinara sauce, I really have never found a favorite can of sauce. I make all kinds of sauces and keep them in the freezer for different recipes. I used a red pepper just because of preferences. I had put in some salt, but found it needed quite a bit more. I used about 14 oz of Corkscrew pasta which worked out well with the sauce amount. It had the right amount of zing with the cayenne pepper, I may of added a bit more though, I didn't really measure. But overall it turned out okay and I would make it again. My DD enjoyed it as well because she is taking some to school for lunch tomorrow. Thanks for the post Ranikabani.

 3. This is a great recipe for a family with teenagers! I had extra boys for dinner and they all went back for seconds. I did cut back on the garlic powder and cayenne since I wasn't sure what the tastes of the guests would be. I used a portobella mushroom spaghetti sauce and an italian cheese blend. It was delicious! Thank you :)
