  1. Combine cornstarch, salt and pepper.
  2. Add steak and toss.
  3. Deep fry steak until golden.
  4. In another bowl combine soy sauce,vinegar, sherry, honey, sugar, chili paste and water.
  5. In a saucepan heat oil.
  6. Saute garlic,onion,ginger and green pepper for 30 seconds.
  7. Add sauce ingredients.
  8. Cook for 1 minute.
  9. Add the steak
  10. Toss to coat thoroughly.
  11. Heat through.

We loved this recipe. Followed the recipe exactly but also did not deep fry the meat just stir-fried.

Really good. I also did not deep fry it. The sauce is amazing. I served it alongside Spicy Noodle Salad. Thanks for a good one. will make again with rice.

i'm only rating the sauce for this recipe. yes, i know, it isn't 'crispy' beef anymore if i pan-fry it. spicy beef then? haha. used rice wine and apple cider vinegar in the sauce. omitted the sugar and added slightly more honey instead. the sweetness was just right. i adjusted the serving size to a much smaller portion for myself. thanks for a great dish!
