These were WONDERFUL! I made some changes as the spices didn't come through enough. I used 3/4 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 + 1/8 tsp nutmeg, 1/2 + 1/8 tsp cloves. I also substituted the shortening with 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce + 1/2 cup butter. Then, instead of 2 cups choc chips I used 1 cup mini chocolate chips. I also left out the walnuts. Thank you so much for this recipe! It gave the exact "kick" that chocolate chip cookies needed.
