  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Beat egg yolks well; add sugar and sour cream and blend thoroughly.
  • Sift remaining dry ingredients together.
  • Add with nuts and raisins to the first mixture, stirring only until no more dry flour is evident.
  • Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
  • Pour into an 8 x 8" pan which has been lined with waxed paper.
  • Bake for about 40 minutes or until cake tests done.
  • Frost when cool.

  1. made this for a friends bday today. mixed in walnuts and Used Recipe#419247 sprinkled with chocolate chips. Doubled the recipe for a layer cake. As written this recipe only makes a one 9" round. Cake was moist without being overly sweet. the cinnamon and nutmeg were not over powering but complimented the rest of the flavors very well. I'll be keeping this recipe for future reference.
