  • Mix together the rum and sugar in a large glass pitcher until the sugar dissolved. Add the thinly sliced fruit. Let sit for at least 2 hours and up to 6 hours in the refrigerator. Right before serving, add the red wine and orange juice. Stir well and serve chilled.

  1. I found this recipe on another recipe site years ago, and I've been making it ever since! It gets rave reviews whenever I serve it. In the winter, I add cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, and other winter spices, use apple cider instead of orange juice, and use diced apples instead of limes.
     
  2. The submitter did say his sangria will kick butt (notice the 1-1/2 cups rum?). I peeled a peach, removed the pit and cut the fruit meat into cubes which I added along with the sliced lemon and lime. I also added a can of very cold 7-up, plus a tray of ice, before serving.
