  1. This cake had lots of flavor and was very easy to make. I had some red wine I needed to use up and thought this would be perfect.

  2. A very good, simple cake. I skipped the glaze and instead frosted it with a Swiss Buttercream, which went with it nicely. This cake is very dense!

  3. I didn't use the glaze recipe for this. Just used regular store bought white icing. This is different. Not bad, just different. I think it may be better with a sweeter wine, like White Zinfandale instead of red wine. I agree that it is VERY MOIST.

  4. I used Merlot, and only half the frosting as I baked this in a 13x9 pan. It is FANTASTIC. It gets better with age so resist the urge to cut into it the first day! I love it as is, it almost tastes buttery and is SO very moist. I think it would be lovely with sweetened berries served with it as well.

  5. Fun! I used Pinot Noir, as I'm living in Oregon I'm in Pinot country. Baked in muffin-top pans and topped with sugar instead of glaze and billed them as Pinot Noir tea cakes. Easy and unique.
