Every time I make this soup, someone wants the recipe.
- 6 potatoes, diced
- 1⁄2 cup onion, chopped
- 2 stalks celery, chopped
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon celery salt
- 2⁄3 teaspoon pepper
- 8 slices bacon
- 6 tablespoons flour
- 2 cups milk
- Cover potatoes, onion, celery, salt, and pepper with water and cook until tender.
- Fry bacon saving 6 T of dripping.
- Make white sauce with bacon drippings flour and milk.
- Add white sauce to soup, crumble bacon and add to soup.
- Heat thoroughly.
Excellent, flavorful, quick and easy to make. I made the soup exactly as written with one addition. After step 5 I added dumplings to the soup like my dear nana always did. Thank for sharing and the memories.
