Not your usual type of sweet pie, but if you like poppy seeds, you'll probably like this. Cooking time is approximate.

  1. Combine sugar, cornstarch and eggs.
  2. Beat well with hand mixer.
  3. Gradually beat in milk, cream and poppy seeds.
  4. Place in a saucepan and heat until thickened.
  5. Remove from heat.
  6. Add vanilla and beat again to form a smooth custard.
  7. Cool slightly and pour into baked pie shells.
  8. Cover lightly with waxed paper to keep moist and smooth.
  9. Refrigerate until custard is set before serving.
