ingredients

• 1 1⁄2 cups brown sugar
• 1 1⁄2 cups water
• 7⁄8 cup granulated sugar
• 1⁄2 cup pitted dates, chopped
• 1⁄2 cup nuts, chopped
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1 cup flour, sifted
• 1 teaspoon baking powder
• 1⁄8 teaspoon salt
• 1 cup milk

directions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
2. Dissolve brown sugar in water and pour into 9 x 11 baking pan.
3. Mix remaining ingredients together thoroughly and pour over the syrup.
4. Bake for 25 minutes.
5. Serve warm with whipped cream.
