- 1 1⁄2 cups brown sugar
- 1 1⁄2 cups water
- 7⁄8 cup granulated sugar
- 1⁄2 cup pitted dates, chopped
- 1⁄2 cup nuts, chopped
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup flour, sifted
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1⁄8 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Dissolve brown sugar in water and pour into 9 x 11 baking pan.
- Mix remaining ingredients together thoroughly and pour over the syrup.
- Bake for 25 minutes.
- Serve warm with whipped cream.
