Pears With Maple Syrup and Vanilla

  • Set the oven at 180C/gas mark4.
  • Peel the pears, cut them in half and remove their cores.
  • Bring the sugar and water to the boil, add in the pears and let them simmer for 10-15 minutes till they become tender.
  • Drain and discard the syrup.
  • Place the pears in a shallow baking dish. Drizzle with the maple syrup and the vanilla extract.
  • Bake for about 60 minutes, till the pears get very soft and pale gold.
  • Serve with a jug of cream.
