  1. Beat egg yolk and white separately.
  2. Cream sugar with melted shortening.
  3. Add egg yolk, syrup, salt and oats.
  4. Then add baking powder, egg white, and vanilla.
  5. MIx thoroughly, drop on greased pan (about half teaspoon each).
  6. Allow space for spreading.
  7. Bake 8 to 10 minutes in 350F oven (moderate oven).
  8. Cool for 2 minutes before removing from pan.
