Mozzarella Sticks

"i make a whole mess of these & freeze them so we can have them anytime! there will be extra coating but i like to use that as a coating for chicken! i just dip the chicken in some egg then in the coating & bake it at 375 for 30 minutes or until it's done. you can also bake them at 375 degrees but they don't typically keep their shape as well that way."

directions

  • In a bowl, beat egg until frothy. In another bowl, combine bread crumbs and parmesan.
  • Cut each cheese stick in half (package contains 12 sticks, should have 24 sticks after slicing). Coat sticks in egg, then in bread crumb mixture. Repeat (you want the sticks to be well coated). After sticks are coated, place in freezer for 2 hours. (Double coating helps them keep their shape.).
  • Heat deep fryer to 375 degrees. Put mozzarella sticks in deep fryer for about 4 minutes (watch closely so the sticks don't burn). Serve with your favorite dipping sauce --- ranch, marinara, or barbecue!

  1. :( This didn't work! I followed the directions to a 'T' and even froze them solid in the deepfreezer. They melted all over in 10 minutes and were no longer sticks. If the chef lets me know that the recipe changed, I'd be happy to try them again. I can see them working in the deepfryer. Made for Spring 2009 PAC event.

i just got engaged to the man i've had a crush on since 1st grade. i'm a homemaker and help my father raise my 12 year old sister. it's so weird to see her go through what i went through just 8 years ago! we lost my mother a couple of years ago so that's when i taught myself to cook. i never got a chance to learn before because she insisted she cooked. i love cooking & i suppose i'm somewhat of a foodie. i LOVE the food network & i LOVE trying new recipes even more! i have a siamese mix cat named who. she's about a year now and i've raised her from birth. she's quite exceptional & one of a kind. when i'm in the kitchen she's never too far away. but neither is my pomerainian fred. he's a little over 5 months old and much more trouble than the cat! i guess i'm here for people who are more like me as i don't seem to fit in with my friends anymore because i'm more interested in trying that great new recipe with my little sister than going to that party on friday.
