Called a cake but they are cookies. This recipe does not call for nuts like the others here at Zaar. Posted for Zaar World Tour 2006

Loved this! Grew up eating the traditional recipe with nuts but husband and kids are allergic to them. These are great and you don't miss the nuts.

Ingredients Nutrition


  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Cream butter adding sugar gradually.
  3. Blend in salt, vanilla, and flour.
  4. If too soft, chill until firm.
  5. Scoop small pieces of dough, roll in hand to make a small ball, and place on ungreased cookie sheets.
  6. Bake in preheated oven about 12 minutes, or until golden brown.
  7. While still hot, roll cookies in powdered sugar.
  8. Move to a wire rack to cool.
