This recipe comes from a community cookbook in my area. For Busy Cooks by the Lower Valley Hospice. Sylvia Richards sent in this recipe to be in the cookbook. It is a very simple and quick recipe, and it goes great with almost anything.

I found this very flavorless. I added onion and garlic as well, but still found this to be nothing more than rice with some tomato sauce thrown in. I couldn't taste the cumin at all as I don't think there was enough. Sorry, this just didn't work for us.

  1. In a 10-inch iron frying pan, brown the rice in 1 tablespoon oil.
  2. Add water, cumin and tomato sauce.
  3. Cover and turn heat to simmer.
  4. Cook 25 minutes until tender.
