  • Cook macaroni.
  • Put 3 tablespoons butter in a large (1 1/2 quart) casserole. Microwave until melted.
  • Blend in flour, salt, mustard, pepper, and hot sauce. Stir in milk. Microwave until thick (4-6 minutes), whisking once or twice during this time.
  • Stir in cheese. Microwave 30-90 seconds to soften/melt cheese.
  • Stir in cooked macaroni.
  • In a small bowl, melt 3 tablespoons butter in the microwave. Stir in bread crumbs. Sprinkle over casserole.
  • Microwave at 70% power for 5-7 minutes.
