  1. Combine sugar and flour in bowl.
  2. Melt butter, shortening, water, and cocoa powder and brink to a boil.
  3. Pour mixture over sugar and flour.
  4. Stir well.
  5. Add remaining ingrdeients and stir until smooth.
  6. Pour into two greased and floured layer cake pans.
  7. Bake at 325 for twenty-five to thirty minutes.
  8. Cool thoroughly before frosting.

I did not use the frosting, but it looked like a pretty generic frosting so I thought I'd give the cake rating. This is very moist and soft, almost velvety, not over poweringly chocolatey. I used most of this cake for use in a truffle and it was so moist that it mixed in easily. Thanks for the recipe.
