Just-Like-Starbucks Doubleshot - Copycat

"I tried to stay away from this expensive, creamy, caffeine indulgence in a can--but I broke down. I was instantly hooked, and searched the internet for a substitute. You can lighten it up by using fat-free half and half."

Questions & Replies

  1. I JUST found this recipe (in desperation since I can't find ANY doubleshots ANYwhere these days!). Does anyone know if you can make a pitcher of these and just keep them in the fridge until ready to serve? Or does the espresso or half-and-half not hold up to storage?

  2. Does anyone have the Hazelnut version?? They're impossible to find near me now... :(

  3. How did they get the 20g protein. I like the beverage taste, but also looking to boost the protein level....

  1. Awesome recipe! I did change it a bit...made the espresso with instant coffee instead of brewing it (3 teaspoons mixed with 2 oz water). I had to add another teaspoon of sugar, but that may have been because instant coffee has a strong bitter taste. The best part is since I'm pregnant, I can make it decaf (or half-caf) and drink it without feeling guilty!!!

  2. So happy to have found this recipe. The little can is so expensive and this does the trick for a lot less money. I just chill the espresso (sweetened with the teaspoon of sugar) in the fridge for a few hours and then add the milk and half 'n half. I like it that way rather than pouring it over the ice. Tastes great, thank you!!

  3. Very easy! Very Good! I let my husband taste it too as we are BOTH hooked on those little overpriced black cans that doesn't have near enough in them, and we both agree, this is VERY CLOSE!! YUMMY! Thanks for sharing this!

  4. Thanks so much for this wonderful recipe. Starbucks would run into losses if everyone can make this at home. I am glad I won't be spending anymore for this yummylicious drink.

  5. Excellent clone recipe. My espresso is not quite as bold as the starbucks, I will experiment with different beans since I really appreciate that robust flavor.

Tweaks

  1. I would add that I prefer 1tsp sugar as recommended, but I find that 2tsp more closely matches the 16g carbs listed on the can and tastes more accurate.
