  1. Wow! I have tried a lot of recipes from this site but THIS is the one that my family raved about after the first bite! The original recipe as is I have no doubt would be good but I followed another review and made some additions- 3 (15 oz) cans of diced tomatoes, 1 can whole kernel corn, 1 can creamed corn, 1 can chicken, 3 cans barbecue pork, 1 can barbecue beef, 1 can limas, 1 cup ketchup, 1 T lemon juice, 1 T Worcestershire. Outstanding stew. I put it in the crockpot for four hours on low. This is the easiest stew to make and it is a lot of taste for very little work!

  2. I am a southerner and this is the best brunswick stew that I have ever eaten!! The only thing that I did different was to add diced potatoes and a can of delmonte butterbeans. My family loved it!! It is amazing how the flavors meld together and taste as if they have cooked over an open fire in cast iron pots all day. Thank you so much for posting this!!

  3. As an addition, I added potatoes, added some vegetable broth, worcestershire sauce, barbeque sauce, and garlic salt. Definitely worth it. Even my mother raved about it when she had some.

  4. I'm a North Carolina girl and I still can not believe I bought CANNED bbq. Ewww!!! In fact, I was nervous to eat this for dinner tonight. However... I decided to be brave. And... I'M SO GLAD!!! This stuff is awesome!!! I followed Greatdin-din's review and added lima beans (you know it!) and the cans of various corn. It's a good thing the pot is still on the stove because I'm going to need another bowl. YUM!!!

Tweaks

  1. I substituted one of the cans of stewed tomatoes for 1 can of Rotel - it gave the stew a little kick and was fantastic!!
